Today would have been my sweet Omi's 84th Birthday. I miss her very much. She left this old world and entered glory February of this year, and I wouldn't ever want to ask her back. But there are moments...moments like these that I wish I could call her and wish her Happy Birthday, moments when I want to hear her speak german and marvel at her, moments when she would ask me about my babies...moments, precious moments I miss.
I would like to tell you a little bit about my Omi. Her name was Helga Gallaher, what a name! :) She was born in Munich Germany on October 28th, 1929. The third daughter of Lt. Colonel Herman A. Egger and Stephanie W. Egger. She grew up there, but eventually married my pop pop and moved to the states. She missed Germany so much, but embraced America as her home - It was where her family was, her husband, her children, her grandchildren. I have so many fond memories of my Omi, so many that sharing them with you would take so much more space than I have in this blog post. She was a special lady. She was spunky, beautiful, talented, sweet, and caring, I wish you all could have known her! For almost my whole life I prayed for my Omi to come to a saving knowledge of The Lord, but for almost 20 years, she never did. Years would come and go, and it would be hard to not get discouraged, but, 2013 came and she was facing many health problems. I asked Josh if he would try to talk with her. We went to see her in the hospital before a surgery she was going to have, and Josh spent about 30 minutes with my sweet Omi, and he led her to The Lord. Whew! Isn't GOD GOOD!? I am so thankful for my husband, for his willingness and ability to talk with people about The Lord. It was not long after this surgery (maybe a couple weeks) that my Omi went home to be with The Lord that saved her! What a great comfort knowing that she is in the arms of her savior, free of all pain and suffering AND that I will get to see her again one day!!! Whew! I am having a hallelujah fit over here!! :) I miss her, but I know where she is! So Happy Birthday my sweet Omi, your first in Heaven, I know no celebration in this old world can compare! I love you! 
Do you know The Lord? The Bible says in 2 Corinthians 6:2 that today is the day of salvation. If you have never asked The Lord into your heart to save you from your sins that you would do so today! Its the best decision I ever made! And the best my Omi ever made, it's the reason she is in Heaven today!
All you have to do is follow these steps.
- Step 1: Admit that YOU have sinned.
“As it is written, there is none righteous, no, not one.“ Romans 3:10
- Step 2: Realize that there is a PENALTY for your sin.
“For the wages of sin is death…” Romans 6:23a
- Step 3: Accept that Christ PAID the penalty of sin for YOU.
“But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.” Romans 5:8
- Step 4: Know that Christ wants to give you the FREE GIFT of eternal life in Heaven.
“But the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.” Romans 6:23b
- Step 5: Believe in Christ and ASK HIM to be your Savior.
“For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.” Romans 10:13
